Celebrating Penn Athletics

President Ann Fields welcomes attendees to ceremony.

March 21, 2013 – 11:15 a.m.

Thursday morning, President Fields had her PR department send out a school-wide notice encouraging all students, campus faculty and staff members to come support the great achievements of William Penn Athletics thus far this year. As a result, many people from Penn chose to attend, as did several members from the community–even some alumni were present.

The ceremony began with the familiar sounds of the Penn Pride Pep Band, whom traveled to Branson, MO earlier this month to support our Men’s Basketball team in the NAIA National Tournament. Many teams from different sports were then honored for their accomplishments, but perhaps the most notable portion of the ceremony was when Oskaloosa Mayor, David Krutzfeldt, proclaimed March 21 to forever be recognized as William Penn Men’s Basketball day.

The team also celebrated their incredible 34-2 season (the best men’s record in school history) by revealing a new pennant hung in the main gym to commemorate all of their hard work this year.
