With the entire student body now competing in the same conference, it seems fitting that all athletes are dressed in the same gear. WPU have signed a four-year contract with global athletic giants, Nike, and the WP community couldn’t be happier.
Thanks to prior dealings with volleyball, men’s basketball, and women’s golf, this discussion has been in the works for a few years now, and once all coaches were on board, William Penn approached Nike, and the rest is history.
“This is a win-win for all of our programs here at William Penn University,” Hafner said. “We feel like we can do more for our student-athletes and at the same time be equipped with great apparel.”
Contracts like this are seen on a Division 1 level; with the exception of theirs being multi-million dollar deals says Director of Alumni relations, Nik Rule. “From the university’s standpoint, Nike is the worlds most popular apparel company, and to have every single one of our teams wearing Nike uniforms will be huge for recruiting”, says Rule.
William Penn has dealt with Phil Hemming, a representative from Sports Page in Pella, and will continue to deal with him for all their apparel needs. “I know how important athletics is here at William Penn, so for the school to have the best apparel on the planet, I truly hope this helps in all respects, especially recruiting,” Hemming added. “This will be a great partnership for everyone involved.”
