The men’s soccer team finished off the season with an 8-10-2 record, after a whirlwind of a season. The men’s team landed itself a position in the Heart of America Athletic Conference quarterfinals. Facing off against #7 MidAmerica Nazarene, the Statesmen fell short in double overtime with a 1-0 score. Just barely missing the opportunity to go to a shoot out by 12 seconds.
Head Coach, Jaymee Highcock, was pleased with how the team performed this year having beaten some tough competition over the season; including Columbia (2-1 OT), Mount Mercy (3-1) and Avila (2-0).
The Statesmen will have high-performing players returning next year such as Nenad Markovic, from Belgrade, Serbia. Markovic, who was rewarded one of the best offensive campaigns in the school history. Markovic was picked as one of the top overall players, and was awarded Freshman of the year in the Heart of America Conference.
The Statesmen will be losing 8 seniors this year who have been a huge asset to the program over the years: Facundo Benitez, Joni Cruz, Renato Firmento, Jeremy Esparza, Santos Ortiz, Ralph Duopu-Turner, Bruno Vencovsky, and Santiago Goytia Zamora.
