Annual Lighted Christmas Parade Reaches 29th Year

By Helene Larsen

The holiday season has brought the popular annual Oskaloosa Christmas Parade on Thursday, December 1st. The town square and adjacent streets were lined with eager children and parents waiting to see all the floats, and to catch some candy from the generous parade participants. William Penn’s SGA group had a float as per tradition, and Greeks, SGA members, athletes, and more walked along with it representing the school. This year for the parade the theme was a story book Christmas, in which the William Penn students walked by a float with a Christmas tree, presents, rocking chair and children reading stories by the fireplace. With other floats displaying trains, igloos, Christmas stories, and known children’s characters, it is not hard to understand why the Parade is an event that bring people out. All the lights of the floats and of the many shops around the town square made the whole event magical.
