Week of Welcome 2018 in the books

Today marks the end of William Penn’s traditional week of welcome. From the first day of classes on August 20th until now, the days have been filled with activities and events for students to enjoy.

Some highlights of the week include the William Penn Community Fair, the annual men’s basketball golf tournament, bowling night and of course freshmen convocation.

The vibe around campus has been nothing less than energetic and eager for new relationships and new opportunities. Freshmen, transfers, and returning students have all meshed well together these last two weeks and we can only expect that the relationships will last a lifetime.

One of the most interesting and diverse events from the week was the William Penn Community Fair. Buisnesses and organizations from Oskaloosa came in and setup tables in the PAC, with goals to present what they offer to the students on campus. There was a wide variety of tables including some local churches and student clubs.

It was very important for the students to engage in and feel apart of the community that surrounds their campus. Now, having been familiarized with these businesses and organizations, the students can feel right at home.

Even though it’s already been two whole weeks in the books for the statesmen, the cap to finish it all off comes tomorrow afternoon as the Statesmen football team takes on (#9) Baker University at 2:30 PM. Make sure you come out and support your fellow Statesmen!
